Privacy & Cookie Policy

Last updated: 2026-06-12

1. Data controller

The data controller for personal data collected through Chronicon · Χρονικόν is Βίκτωρ Σπυράντης, Κιλκίς, Ελλάδα. For questions about your data or to exercise your rights, contact viktorspyrantis@gmail.com.

2. What data we collect

When you visit the site and consent, we collect pseudonymous usage data via Google Analytics 4: pages visited, time on page, device type, approximate country/city (from anonymised IP), referring site. We also log actions such as searches and period selections as custom events. We do not collect your name, email, or any directly identifying personal information.

3. Purpose & legal basis

We process this data solely for traffic analytics and content improvement. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), given via the cookie banner. Without explicit consent, the Google Analytics script is not loaded at all and no data is transmitted to Google — including no modeled signals.

4. Recipients & international transfers

When you grant consent, analytics data is transferred to Google LLC (USA) as the provider of Google Analytics. The site is hosted by Vercel Inc. (USA), which acts as a data processor — technical logs (IP, user agent) may transit their infrastructure. Both transfers are covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs). We do not sell or share data with third parties for advertising purposes.

5. Retention period

Data in Google Analytics 4 is retained for 14 months (default), after which it is automatically deleted. Your cookie banner choice is stored in your browser (localStorage) until you clear it.

6. Your rights

Under Articles 15-22 GDPR you have the following rights, exercised by emailing the contact address:

  • Access to your personal data
  • Rectification of inaccurate data
  • Erasure ('right to be forgotten')
  • Restriction of processing
  • Data portability
  • Objection to processing
  • Withdraw consent at any time (without affecting the lawfulness of processing already carried out)

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (www.dpa.gr) or your local supervisory authority.

7. Withdrawing consent

You can change your choice at any time by clicking "Manage cookies" in the footer of every page. Alternatively, clear the site cookies and localStorage from your browser settings.
